Our Journey in Robotics

The Lovington Robotics Program consists of two extracurricular robotics teams that meet after school and on some weekends from August to March to prepare for the seasons’ competitions.  Themes for the season are introduced each year and both the high school FTC (First Tech Challenge) team and the BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) team, made up of both middle school and high school students, begin the brainstorming process.  Beginning with Kickoff in September, team members work diligently to design, build, and program a robot to compete in various tasks. Both competitions emphasize teamwork, strategic thinking, and problem solving.  Competition medals and trophies are awarded for robot performance, marketing presentations, exhibit interviews, and overall spirit and sportsmanship as well as gracious professionalism.  The competition programs challenge team members to participate in hands-on robotics that influence team members in pursuing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) career.

Our Offerings

Our robotics program provides students with hands-on opportunities to explore engineering, programming, and teamwork through real-world applications where they demonstrate their engineering, coding, fabrication, presentation, and marketing skills. Our robotics team members design, build, and program robots to complete challenges that strengthen critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills. Our Robotics program goes beyond technical knowledge; it emphasizes leadership, communication, and creativity, and gives team members an opportunity to complete in local, regional, and national competitions. This program gives our student's opportunities in career exploration, to work together as a team, not only build a robot, but build upon their own innovative skills and confidence to persevere when challenged with difficult situations.
